Nativity Sets and Figurine Christmas Decor
Nativity sets can be traced all the way back to the year 1223. Ceramic nativity sets were created for the same reason we display them today. The Christmas figurines in the nativity scene are set to remind us of the real meaning of Christmas. They attempt to de-emphasize the materialism that often accompanies the holiday.
Traditional Christmas Nativity Sets
Nativity scene sets have become tradition, handed down from one generation to another. They’re often treasured as family keepsakes and come in various styles and materials. Here at burton+BURTON, you'll find wood nativity sets, hand-painted porcelain sets, ceramic nativity sets, or even glass. They may include many characters or focus on only the most significant. Either way, they help create an environment in keeping with the importance of the Christmas holiday.

FAQS Regarding Nativity Scene Sets
How to display a nativity set?
No matter the style, or how many pieces come in your set, the one design element that is not disputed about ceramic nativity sets is that the baby Jesus in his crib is at the center. In addition, to the immediate right and left of him should be the Mary and Joseph figurines watching over their newborn baby. In the immediate background should be the nativity stable, if your set comes with one. Beyond this basic setup, there is some creative leeway for you to work with. For the rest of the figurines feel free to set them up in a way that makes sense to you. Let your imagination recreate Bethlehem that holy night!
How many pieces should be in a nativity set?
At the bare minimum, a nativity set should come with 3 pieces: the baby Jesus in his crib, and the Mary and Joseph figurines. Depending on who designed the set, your ceramic nativity set may include many more pieces such as the stable, animals, angels, and wise men. Luckily, burton+BURTON has plenty of nativity sets to choose from in many different styles to fit your unique taste.
What comes in a nativity set?
If you have a traditional, hand-painted nativity set, it should come with: a baby Jesus in his crib, Mary and Joseph figurines, an angel, 3 wise men figurines, farm animal figurines, and a stable. However, the figurines included may vary depending on the designer.
What unique nativity scene figures are there?
It is not uncommon to find unique figures in nativity sets considering all of the different designers. A figurine that we find unique in some nativity sets is the little drummer boy. Some sets come with this figurine, some many do not. Another figure we find unique in ceramic nativity sets is camels. Many modern sets feature traditional farm animals such as cattle, sheep, and donkeys but very few sets come with a camel.
