How To: Creating the Perfect Bohemian Thanksgiving Tablescape

Fatigued by the traditional orange palette of Fall? Creating a fresh take on Autumn décor is easier than ever when combining seasonal favorites with on-trend color palettes. Magenta is not traditionally found in Autumn décor, but paired with soft neutrals and luxurious metallics, it tells a rich story.

With Millennials placing emphasis on originality, it’s more important than ever for consumers to feel their seasonal décor not only reflects their uniqueness, but also blends seamlessly within their carefully curated home.

Telling an autumn story through neutrals and metallics, you can easily create an on-trend bohemian look. With rich earth tones and rustic substrates, our bohemian glassware will transition through all four seasons.

In this design we have injected another top trend for 2019 rarely found in autumn décor – butterflies. Hand-painted in warm shades, these butterfly picks add a burst of color to a mostly muted palette, making it more energizing and playful.

The foundation of the design is an array of irregularly-shaped pumpkins and squash. Here we have spray painted a traditional orange pumpkin to create a blank canvas using an ivory spray paint from our local home improvement store. The matte finish of the pumpkin pairs well with the gleaming metallics and grounds the look, keeping it unfussy. Just add several tapered candles and a lush, helium-filled bouquet of the brand-new Chrome™ Copper balloons to complete the look. You can even use a small squash or pumpkin as a balloon weight to help disguise the mechanics of your design.

Read below for a step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate our unique ombré butterfly pumpkin:

Tape off the stem of your pumpkin using painter’s tape.
Spray paint the pumpkin. Here we have used the color colonial ivory in a matte finish. Several coats will be needed to cover the original pumpkin color.
While the paint is drying, cut the wire stems off of the butterfly picks using a wire cutter.
Use a hot glue gun on a low setting to apply the butterfly picks one at a time.
